Where to Get Help

Biblical Counseling

Community Bible Church has a growing team of counselors trained in helping people with marriage and personal problems find answers from the Bible. Counselors receive training through the National Association of Nouthetic Counselors. Counseling is available throughout the week and on weekends. For more information please contact Lesa Horton at lesa.horton@cbchurch.org

One-to-One Teaching

Using a plan called The Spiritual Life Studies, trained leaders help individual men to understand the basic teachings of the Bible and to put them into practice in the home, on the job and in the church.

The Pit Crew

I thank the Lord for the Saturday morning Men’s Prayer Group (Pit Crew). After becoming close to these fellows, I fell off the wagon hard. My brothers were there for me. I love these guys and look forward to years of continued growth and fellowship with my friends. What a good feeling.

Saturday mornings from 7:00am - 9:00am in Modular 2

Testimonials

Marriage Counseling

My wife and I were mainly having problems with communication. We discovered through counseling that our issue was that we weren't putting the needs of each other ahead of our own. We saw that in order to have a successful marriage we had to focus on pleasing God instead of pleasing ourselves. The time we spent in counseling definitely had some ups and downs, but it helped to be a stabilizing force for us to count on. My wife wasn't a Christian before going to counseling and during counseling decided to trust Jesus as her Savior. I am grateful for the chance to work through our issues. It could be said that it saved my life and my wife’s eternity. We will always have to work on our relationship but we have new tools to fallback on now. Its good to know that we know where to go for follow up.

Chronic Pain

Q What were you facing before you had Biblical Counseling?

A I was having difficulty dealing with my chronic pain and anxiety. I was trying to handle everything on my own and I needed to learn how to let the Lord handle it for me.

Q How has Biblical Counseling helped you?

A Biblical counseling has helped me tremendously. My counselors were so understanding and compassionate and made me comfortable so it was easy to share my troubles with them. I was shown in the Bible how God teaches us to deal with adversity and anxiety. Also, what I thought to be difficult concepts were explained with simple visuals that helped me understand them and just as importantly, remember what I learned. The additional outside Bible reading and supplemental reading reinforced these concepts and helped me see my problem from different angles, giving me insight from each one. The best part was that no part of the counseling was secular psycho-babble that I had experienced so many times in the past. Everything was presented from a biblical perspective, not a personal one.
I learned that God never meant for me to face my problems alone and how to be content no matter the circumstances. I found a peace I had never experienced before even in the midst of great pain. I have kept all of my notes from the sessions so that I can turn to them when I need a reminder!

Q How is your life now since Biblical Counseling?

A I still face the same problems that I did before counseling but I do not face them alone. God's grace is sufficient!
