Small Groups are a central part of life at Community Bible Church. Someone has said, "As a church grows larger it must grow smaller." This implies that it is very difficult to feel a part of CBC without involvement in one of our many small groups. The majority of our groups use a “sermon based” curriculum that follows along with the Sunday message. This arrangement allows our small group members to hear the message, study related question during the week and then discuss their insights in a group setting. Small groups provide a place to belong, a place to share joys and sorrows and a place to grow and change.
Our small group ministry is built around the picture of spiritual life found in Acts 2:42-47. Small groups provide in our day, what the early church experienced in the areas of fellowship, prayer, discipleship, service and witness. Our groups meet in homes and most follow a sermon-based format. Our groups typically meet during the fall and break for the holiday season and then in the winter/spring with a break for the summer. We have groups that meet on every night of the week and some with childcare.
We will try and place you in a small group at anytime during the year – except for break times. Some groups are full and cannot handle additional members. Others are eager to have new folks. Please contact lesa.horton@cbchurch.org for more information.
Most of our groups are on a break for the summer. Sign-ups for the fall '10 will begin on Sunday, Aug. 22nd.
Do you have suggestions on how to make small groups better?
Do you want to know more than we are telling you?
Do you have a story to tell us of what God has done in your group?
