CBC Core Values

CBC's core values are the ministry distinctives that provide a framework for understanding what we are all about at Community Bible Church. They are not the doctrines we hold to but rather the convictions we believe in that will guide every aspect of our ministry in the new millennium.

God's Word is our final authority.
  1. Based on the Bible
  2. As is indicated in our church's name, the Bible is central to and the basis for all of the teaching, preaching and ministry at CBC. By seeking to understand God's Word and striving to obey it, He transforms us, both as individuals and as His church. God's Word is our final authority.
  3. Connected by Gathering
  4. We believe it is God's design that His followers meet together regularly, both as a corporate body and in small accountability groups. In gathering, we demonstrate God's desire for us to be a close knit community that honors Him and builds one another up towards maturity in Christ.
  5. Worship is Our Response
  6. God's Word admonishes us to express our love, devotion and gratitude to God for who He is and what He does. Our dedication to Him must be expressed. As Jesus' Church, we believe it is essential that we demonstrate our love for God through individual and corporate times of worship.
  7. Committed to Maturity
  8. We believe every follower of Jesus is called to a life-long pursuit towards spiritual maturity. God never ceases in His work to transform and renew us to become more like Christ, which will be reflected both in our character and in our acts of service. CBC is committed to help each person grow spiritually.
  9. Reaching the Lost
  10. Jesus came to this earth to seek and save lost humanity. He charged His followers with the ministry of going out into the world to help others become His followers. Therefore we believe CBC must passionately pursue reaching those who are not followers of Jesus Christ.
  11. Pure and Relevant
  12. We believe our church must be culturally relevant while remaining doctrinally pure. The Bible's message never changes but the methods used to reach and teach must change in order to rightly integrate into the culture we live. While relating to our world, we will remain true to God's Word and not be like our world.
  13. Equipping for Ministry
  14. We believe that God created the church to be a unified community of diverse individuals. Every follower of Jesus Christ has been given unique abilities (spiritual gifts) and responsibilities in order to minister in and through the local church. We are committed to equipping each person of the CBC family for their God-given ministries
  15. Loving Supernaturally
  16. Jesus gave His church an imperative we call the "Great Commandment", to love (agape) one another. The ability to obey this command is made possible through the power of God's Spirit living within us. We therefore believe that authentic loving relationships should permeate every aspect of church life.
  17. Family Focused
  18. We recognize that one of the greatest battlefields and proving grounds of our faith in Christ is within our homes. Because the local church is the new spiritual family, we must work together to equip parents to fulfill their God-given roles of teaching their children to become mature followers of Jesus Christ.
  19. Pursuing Excellence
  20. We believe that excellence honors God and inspires people. It means we always give our best for God's glory. As a church family, we desire that each individual strives to live a life of moral & spiritual excellence in all we think, say and do.
  21. Helping the Hurting
  22. We believe it is the church's responsibility to minister to the whole person, meaning their physical, emotional and spiritual needs. Caring for those who are hurting and less fortunate is the practical expression of our faith in Jesus Christ.
  23. Commissioned to the Nations
  24. Jesus commissioned His church to make for Himself followers in all nations. Therefore, we believe CBC is to minister both in our local community and in foreign countries. We are to be a sending church; sending from our congregation people, prayers, finances and encouragement for the expansion of God's kingdom throughout the world.
  25. Empowered by Prayer
  26. We believe prayer is essential to knowing and following God. It is the key to unlocking God's prevailing power in the church and in the lives of individuals. Through prayer we express our love for God and we acknowledge our complete dependency on Him.
